A root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to save a badly damaged
or infected tooth, instead of removing it.
During root canal treatment, the infected pulp (blood/nerve supply) is
removed from inside of the tooth; and the root canal(s) are cleaned,
enlarged and sealed to protect against future infection.
After the root canal treatment, the dentist places a permanent filling and a
crown to protect the tooth and restore it to full function.
